I had the chance to experience KMR during our therapy center’s Christmas Party. It was really a delight to have seen our children and their siblings take part and enjoy movement and music as they were led by the energetic teacher Jen. The part I liked the most was when T. Jen used a parachute for the ‘Dinosaur Ride’. I saw the children (both the active ones and those who were initially a bit reserved) come to the center to experience being under the moving parachute. It was truly a rich sensory experience for them. For the finale, I also liked it when the parents and their children joined in twirling ribbon hoops and in copying each other’s dance moves as an upbeat Christmas song was being played. It was like our party’s grand presentation. My KMR experience was really memorable. Thanks, Teacher Jen!

I loved the music tutorial class for my nephew with autism. I did see how the use of music immediately broke down the barriers and help reach him. The format of having the mom do the activities with the child is very beneficial. It not only taught how to carry over the activity at home, but more so an opportunity to bond with each other in a different level. We do want to find a medium where both can reach out to each other. Furthermore, the atmosphere is not stressful, not highly formal, and the kids contribute to the flow of the session. Indeed, I honestly think the kids had so much fun that the session seemed very short. More power and clearly document the benefits of music therapy to all type of special children.
